بررسی و مقایسه‌ رابطه آزادی و امنیت در اندیشه‌ سیاسی توماس هابز و جان لاک

چکیده

مسئله «آزادی» و «امنیت» همواره توجه بشر را به خود جلب کرده است. «‌هابز» و «‌لاک»، دو تن از نظریه‌پردازان اصلی «قرارداد اجتماعی» در این راستا گام‌هایی برداشته‌اند؛ مطالعه دیدگاه این دو متفکر درباره آزادی و امنیت از آن جهت ضروری می‌نماید که یکی به مطلق‌گرایی و دیگری به پدر لیبرالیسم معروف است. تحقیق حاضر با روش توصیفی و تحلیلی با جمع‌آوری داده‌های کتابخانه‌ای و با رجوع به آثار این اندیشه‌ورزان و آثار سایر محققانی که درباره آن‌ها تحقیق کرده‌اند، به بررسی رابطۀ آزادی و امنیت در دیدگاه هابز و لاک پرداخته است. در این راستا این پرسش مطرح گردید که «چه شباهت‌ها و تفاوت‌هایی در اندیشه سیاسی هابز و لاک درباره رابطۀ آزادی و امنیت وجود دارد؟». ادعای نوشتار این است که هابز آزادی را با امنیت قابل جمع نمی‌داند، در حالی ‌که از دید لاک این دو با یکدیگر سازگار و تقویت‌کنندۀ همدیگر است. از نظر هابز باید یکی از این دو را برگزید که او امنیت را با اهمیت‌تر تشخیص داده و آن را بر آزادی ترجیح می‌دهد؛ اما لاک هم در پی تأمین امنیت است و هم در پی حفظ آزادی، هر چند که او ارج بیشتری به آزادی قائل است تا امنیت.

Review and Compare the Relationship between Freedom and Security in the Political Thought of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke

چکیده English

“Liberty” and “Security” have always drawn the human attention to themselves. Hobbes and Locke, two main theoreticians of the "social contract", have taken steps in this direction. It is necessary to study the viewpoints of these two thinkers on liberty and security as one is known as the absolutist and the other is known as the father of liberalism. They were among the firsts who systematically wrote about liberty and security. This study, having being conducted by reviewing the works of these two thinkers and the works of other writers about their thoughts, aims to study the relation between liberty and security from the viewpoint of Hobbes and Locke. The question is what similarities and dissimilarities exist between the viewpoint of Hobbes and Locke on the relation between liberty and security. The argument we are trying to prove is that Hobbes views liberty and security as incompatible, while Locke thinks they are compatible and reinforcing each other. Hobbes suggests we should choose one of them, and consequently he determines security as more important and prefers it over liberty. On the other hand, Locke tries to maintain security as well as preserve the liberty, although he is fonder of liberty than security and considers it more important over the other.
