نظریه توصیفات راسل و مشکل جانشینى در متون گرایشهاى قضیه‏اى

چکیده
هر نظریه معنایی جامعی که متکفل تحلیل و تبیین توصیفات معرفه، مانند «نویسنده بوستان» و «رئیس جمهور ایران»، در جمله های زبان طبیعی است، علاوه بر این که باید بتواند تحلیل معنایی درستی از جمله هایی مانند «نویسنده بوستان شاعر است» و «رئیس جمهور ایران عاقل است» ارائه دهد، باید بتواند به شایستگی نیز از عهده مشکل مربوط به این گونه جمله ها، یعنی مشکل جمله های مشتمل بر توصیفات معدوم، نظیر «پادشاه فرانسه طاس است» و «مربع مستدیر مستدیر است»، برآید. همچنین علاوه بر این که آن نظریه باید از کفایت لازم برای تبیین و تحلیل توصیفات معرفه، در جمله های گرایش های قضیه ای، نظیر «حسن اعتقاد دارد که نویسنده بوستان شاعر است» و «درباره رییس جمهور ایران، حسن اعتقاد دارد که او عاقل است»، برخوردار باشد، باید بتواند به نحو رضایت بخشی نیز مشکل مربوط به آنها، یعنی «مشکل جانشینی» عبارات هم ارزش را در آن جمله ها نظیر سلسله جمله های: الف- «حسن اعتقاد دارد نویسنده بوستان شاعر است»، ب- «نویسنده بوستان نویسنده گلستان است»، ج- «حسن اعتقاد دارد نویسنده گلستان شاعر است»، حل نماید. راسل مدعی است، نظریه تسویری او از توصیفات معرفه کفایت و توانایی لازم را برای تحلیل و تبیین درست همه آن جمله ها، و همچنین حل دو مشکل پیرامون آنها، دارا می باشد. در این مقاله خواهیم دید که ادعای راسل در مورد جمله های گرایشی و مشکل مربوط به آنها، یعنی «مشکل جانشینی»، ادعایی نادرست است.

چکیده English

Any semantic theory of definite descriptions for sentences of natural language, claiming to be a comprehensive one, should be able to provide a proper analysis of the sentences like" the author of Waverley was a poet," and" The president of Iran is wise." Similarly, such a theory should give a plausible account for the problem concerning the sentences like "The king of France is bald", and "The round square is round". In the same way, the theory should process the adequacy needed for explaining and analyzing the occurrence of definite descriptions in de dicto / de re attitude sentences, such as "Jones believes that Scott was the author of Waverley." and "About the president of Iran, Smith believes that he is wise". Likewise, it ought to give a satisfactory solution to the problem attached to the chain of sentences like (a)"Jones wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverley," (b) "Scott was the author of Waverley," and (c) "Jones wished to know whether Scott was Scott."
Russell claims that his quantifying theory of definite descriptions has the adequacy and capability needed for analyzing and explaining the de dicto/ de re attitude contexts and is able to resolve their problem. But we shall see that Russell’s claim is not correct and his account is failed.
